Treasure Gems 2001

Treasure Gems is a booklet produced annually by members of the Amalgamated Printers Association (APA).  Each participating printer submits 110 copies of their page (or pages) to a coordinator who assembles/collates the books and sends them back to the printers.

My submission was a description of the advent of printing -- taken from a bookplate dated 1751.  (The original bookplate was sold on ebay for a price I was unwilling to contemplate.)

Specs:

The page is printed on Hahnemuhle Ingres 95gm/m2 white paper.  The paper comes in 19" x 25" sheets.  (I cut them down to 4.5" x 6" using my Multigraph cutter.)  The paper was purchased from Pearl Paint.

The type is set in 12pt. Joanna, a face designed by Eric Gill in 1930-1931.  The  type comes from Harold Berliner.

The crown is a copper electrotype, the brackets are wood, and the thistle is a dingbat from Sterling Typefoundry.
