A First Showing of Wood Type Specimens

Here are specimens from our large collection of wood types that range from the Gothics to the ornate.  Many of these wood fonts are nearly 100 years old; originating in the mid 19th century.  We even have a few hand-carved fonts (Nos. W-150 to W-155) that are really old timers.  All of these types have a place in modern printing.  Use them for: posters, anniversary promotions, advertising, book covers, and promotional literature.
Reproduction proofs are available from all these types.  In many cases we can print your copy directly from the originals on our own presses.  Unusual color combinations are possible with these wood types when printed on our Heidelberg cylinder press.
All the wood types have been given numbers such as, W-42, W-86, or W-168.  Use these identification numbers when ordering types.  The wood types were rarely dignified by the use of special names as with foundry types.
In addition to many fonts of the standard foundry types such as Garamond, Bodoni, Stymie, Futura, Gothics, etc., we have over 1600 fonts of metal foundry types from the 19th century.  Specimen sheets are available upon request.  On our Linotype we have Caledonia, Times Roman, and Spartan Book with Spartan Heavy for machine composition.  This wide type range gives the greatest possible selection for your printing.  Call us on the telephone at SCarsdale 3-3180 or in New York City at MUrray Hill 5-8863.
